Jonathan Phillips holds an M.F.A. in Dramatic Performance from the
College-Conservatory of Music, Cincinnati. There he studied the Michael
Chekhov Technique of Acting under the direction of Michael Hankin. During
his years at the Conservatory he wrote his first play, “MYTIME” which
went on to win first prize at The
Festival of New Works in 1989. Written for his final graduate
performance, this play toured the United States three times and was
performed by Mr. Phillips for over three years. His next play “Rough”
was also chosen and presented at The
Festival of New Works the following year. He is a Founding Member of
The Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati where he wrote and performed in various
roles. He also produced, wrote and performed “LOUD CARS AND FAST
GUITARS” with another CCM graduate, Sam Womelsdorf. Started as a series
of improvisations between the two actors, this play was developed into a
highly successful performance piece. Following his re-location to Los
Angeles Jonathan set his sights on performance both in front of and behind
the camera. A well-respected name in the post-production field for over 15
years, Mr. Phillips has written, produced and acted in several short films
including a filmed version of “MYTIME’, “The Shakespeare Guy” and
“The Connextion”. He is currently living outside New York City, where
he is teaching, writing and acting.
