Jonathan Phillips holds an M.F.A. in Dramatic Performance from the College-Conservatory of Music, Cincinnati where he graduated with Honors under a full scholarship.  As an actor, he is a Founding Member of the Ensemble Theater of Cincinnati, where he taught the Michael Chekhov technique of Acting.  Also an author, he wrote for the Intern Company at ETC. His play “MYTIME” was a first-prize winner at The Festival of New Works in 1989. He was awarded three national tours spanning three years for this original play. He has taught at The School for Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati. And for the past fifteen years, Mr. Phillips has worked in Los Angeles as a filmmaker for DreamWorks, Paramount, Warner Brothers, and Universal Pictures. He has worked on such films as “SHREK”, “INDECENT PROPOSAL”, “GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS”, and most recently, Peter Jackson’s “KING KONG”. He can even be found in a brief interview on the “KING KONG” DVD shot while working on the film in Wellington, New Zealand for Universal Studios. 

He has also written, produced, acted and edited various films including “THE CONNEXTION” featuring Mala Powers, Hollywood Walk of Fame actress, teacher and executor of the Michael Chekhov Estate. He was responsible for the edit and re-mastering to digital format the Michael Chekhov Master Class Lecture series entitled “ON THEATRE AND THE ART OF ACTING” now available through Applause Books. He has just completed the edit and delivery of a 50 min. documentary for Acme Arts called “EVEREST ER” now being shown at various film festivals. And currently Mr. Phillips is Artist in Residence at PeachCraft Actors Studio outside New York City where he teaches Michael Chekhov Improvisation. He also teaches the Chekhov Technique at The Actor’s Movement Studio in Manhattan, as well as shoots and edits special digital film projects.
